Gems for soprano and organ

Capriola Di Gioia

Driven by a shared passion for Baroque and post-Baroque repertoire, harpsichordist and organist Bart Naessens and his wife, the soprano Amaryllis Dieltiens, founded the ensemble Capriola Di Gioia in 2007 for small-scale, intense performances of stirring but often forgotten music from the 17th and 18th centuries. In Capriola Di Gioia, the fusion between Bart and Amaryllis’ musical temperaments logically results in a focus on Baroque repertoire for soprano and basso continuo. In other words: on music that is almost always theatrical. The pleasure in playing music suggested by the ensemble’s name, combined with historical research, a love of adventure and experimentation, a lively sense of drama and an even greater awareness of musical texts form the guiding principles of their concerts and recordings.
