The Secret Lover, 400 years of Barbara Strozzi

In 2016, star soprano Raquel Andueza conquered the hearts of Mechelen as that year’s voice in residence at the festival. In this anniversary year, she is back with a programme that is particularly close to her heart: L’Amante segreto. With intoxicating music by Barbara Strozzi, one of the most famous female composers of all time. In 2019, we are celebrating the 400th anniversary of her birth. 17th century Venice has never sounded so close.
