VOKALIS LED BY JEROEN KEYMEULEN

From this wave-lapped island: Choir Music from the United Kingdom

None other than Winston Churchill spoke of the United Kingdom in these words, in his book The Birth of Britain: Here, perhaps, in this wave-lapped Island men might settle down and enjoy the good things of life (…). He was implying that people might make good lives for themselves in Britain rather than on the continent.

In the light of the current political events - “this storm-tossed Island”? - Vokalis presents a varied programme of English choir music. Alongside big names like Tallis, Stanford and Elgar, the choir have gone in search of today’s composers, including Howard Skempton, Paul Mealor, Howard Goodall and John Rutter.
