Due to the corona crisis, Festival van Vlaanderen Mechelen has decided, together with the partners Kunstcentrum nona, Cultuurcentrum Mechelen and Filmhuis Mechelen, that LUNALIA 2020 cannot continue in the current circumstances during this period. The public health comes first.
Director Jelle Dierickx: "The health of the population comes first and we can no longer guarantee many projects. It hurts, but we have no choice. We are looking at the option of organizing a Beethoven Happening in autumn, but it is too soon for more information about this. We hope to be able to bring Beethoven to the moon in autumn and to give our audience the high artistic standard that they are used to from us."
In the coming days, we will contact all the ticket buyers involved. We regret that we have to disappoint our audience but this situation is beyond the control of the organizer. We wish our audience and musicians a good health.
The focus will now be on the further organization of the autumn festival, Musica Divina in the Kempen, with the motto 'Oxygen for the soul'. As a festival that focuses on silence, reflection and the religious heritage of the Kempen, it wants to contribute to the principle of a healthy mind in a healthy body. After all, music also provides oxygen. This is exactly what Musica Divina 2020 wants to offer: Oxygen for the soul. The complete program will be announced in mid June. We hope to welcome everyone during Musica Divina, from September 18 to October 4, in the Kempen.
