GETTING THERE
By train
Mechelen is easy to reach by train from pretty well all Belgian and European cities. Mechelen has two stations: Mechelen and Mechelen-Nekkerspoel. Neither is more than 15 minutes’ walk to the city centre.

By bus
Take the city centre shuttle service (No. 1 De Lijn bus) from Mechelen railway station and you will be in the city centre in just a couple of minutes. When you want to get the bus back to the station, you will find a stop immediately opposite the tourist information centre.

By car
If you are coming to Mechelen by car, be aware that much of the city centre is a restricted traffic zone between 11 and 18.00 hrs. You can park inexpensively in several car parks on the outskirts, though still within walking distance of the Grote Markt. From the Keerdok and Zandpoortvest car parks, you will be in the city centre in no time at all. You can park free of charge on Douaneplein, which is just 20 minutes’ walk from the Grote Markt.
