A project by Festival of Flanders Mechelen
After three successful editions of “The Warmest night of Talent,” the project is getting a new name starting this year: Moon Works.
This year, Moon Works consists of two parts. On the one hand, it offers a creative development program in which young artists are given the opportunity to develop new interdisciplinary work. On the other hand, it organizes an open call for young talent, providing promising ensembles with a stage and professional support.
On Saturday, December 5, at 7 p.m., the Predikherenkerk in Mechelen will open its doors for an evening full of musical talent. Two ensembles, selected through the open call, will have the opportunity to present their artistic vision to the public. In addition, three projects will offer a first glimpse into new interdisciplinary work that will later be presented in its complete form during Lunalia.
This project is part of “Mechelen Houdt Je Warm.” The artist development program is being realized in collaboration with Neuköllner Oper and Festival O.
Ensembles may submit their proposals by November 1, 2026, via mechelen@festival.be.
We are seeking ensembles with a compelling musical project lasting no more than twenty minutes. Since Lunalia, the spring festival of Festival of Flanders Mechelen, is essentially a festival of voices, preference will be given to projects in which the human voice plays a role. This can take various forms: singing, speaking, searching murmurs, powerful recitation - ranging from a whisper to a shout.
However, this does not mean that only vocal projects are eligible. Purely instrumental proposals are also welcome. Furthermore, Lunalia is open to innovative ideas and concert formats. Projects therefore do not need to be limited to a classical setup or traditional content.
An application must include:
From all submissions, the jury will select two projects that will be invited to present a short program on December 5 during Moon Works.
