Since 2018, Festival of Flanders Mechelen has been exploring the universe of timeless music under the name LUNALIA. From 26 April to 11 May 2025, the motto of this exploration will be “Sweet Dreams”.
“If you want to realise dreams, you have to be more alert and dream more deeply than others”, wrote the gardener and philosopher Karl Foerster. Lunalia wholeheartedly embraces this deep dreaming, giving itself over to dreamtime, timeless dialogues and the crawl of time. It presents exciting projects including Nenia, Eternity in an Hour and Les Amours de Madame Tchabaï, and composers such as Franz Schubert, Antonio Vivaldi and Sébastien Le Camus, who make the different facets of the night – the realm of dreams – resound.
In 2025, Lunalia will be more rooted in Mechelen than ever, as the ensemble in residence will be Zefiro Torna. Since this musical collective was founded in 1996, it has been characterised by its innovative concepts. And that makes it the perfect match for the dream edition of LUNALIA.
With Zefiro Torna, Revue Blanche, Ian Bostridge, Eric Whitacre, Susanna, Continuum, Resonate Productions, Vlaams Radiokoor, Kris Defoort, Het Collectief, Lore Binon, a nocte temporis, George De Decker, I SOLISTI, Charlotte Wajnberg, House of Wu Fei, Bryggen Bruges Strings and many more.
