Lunalia Lift off: Hardanger Sounds from the Far North

Benedicte Maurseth

Benedicte Maurseth, from Hardangerfjord in Norway, will play and sing works including ‘Lydarslåtter’, which means ‘listening songs’. For her, these ancient melodies are sacred music in the true sense of the term. Benedicte Maurseth is intensely concerned with ‘being nothing’ on stage. She sees it as a vehicle for the music. No more and no less. It is also the subject of the book she wrote for and about her mentor, the legendary Knut Hamre. Klara presenter Olav Grondelaers has read the book and will conduct a brief interview with Benedicte Maurseth about it briefly (in English).
