It is beyond dispute: Maya Fridman is one of the Netherlands’ most adventurous cellists. She works with exceptional artists from different traditions. The flamenco dancer Conchita Boon dances as though her life depends on it, with fire and passion, rooted in tradition yet radically innovative. Soheil Shayesteh reinvents the kamancheh with live electronics, using live visuals to create an expressive, new tableau vivant. So expect an encounter where echoes of mediaeval music, Persian traditions, experimental electronics and flamenco blend into a single, smouldering creation. The result is a sparkling dialogue between cultures, where the past and present set each other alight and the music flares up with irrepressible, hybrid energy.
