Rosary Sonatas part 2

Les Passions de l'Ame led by Meret Lüthi

Sonatas VI-X

The leading Swiss ensemble for early music, Les Passions de l’Ame, has been passionately involved with the music of Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber for many years. You might say he is the composer closest to the ensemble’s hearts. Now they are ready to perform his most famous works: the fifteen Rosary Sonatas. It will be nothing short of a three-concert marathon. Leading the field is Meret Lüthi, the charismatic artistic leader and solo violinist. The continuo team is also made up of musicians who live and breathe the music of H.I.F. Biber. Get ready for fifteen absolute gems.

Press quote in Bachtrack (Jens Klier, 19.09.2020):

«...in the «Schutzengel (guardian angel)»-Passacaglia from the Rosary Sonatas, Lüthi [entered] the culminating soloistic climax. Eyes closed (as well as those of her ensemble colleagues), she led us all with her into the prayer which, in its masterful sense of inner impulse, harrowing emotionality and magnificent miraculous power, blurred the senses.»

Meret Lüthi, violin solo and artistic direction
Matthias Müller, viola da gamba and lirone
Julian Behr, luit en baroque guitare
Margit Übellacker, salterio
