Salon Beethoven - 16:00

canceled

Symphonies and other orchestral works sound spectacular on a large stage, but salons were also held where people could listen to the very newest creations in arrangements for smaller ensembles. Amateur musicians were particularly keen and publishing houses such as Artaria in Vienna found themselves sitting on a goldmine. Salon Beethoven is a chance to discover Ludwig van Beethoven’s first two symphonies in an intimate setting. During the salon, festival director and musicologist Jelle Dierickx will tell you more about the music and about Baron van Swieten and Prince Lichnowsky, to whom the symphonies were dedicated.
