To the distant beloved

Beethoven's art of the song

Reinoud Van Mechelen, a nocte temporis, Anna Besson

UPDATE: Due to the stricter measures of the City of Mechelen, the Beethoven Bubbels concerts will be rescheduled to autumn. Click here for more information.

The tenor Reinoud Van Mechelen was our voice in residence at Lunalia 2019. He is back in Beethoven Year with his ensemble a nocte temporis to take up the challenge of exploring Ludwig van Beethoven’s lieder. The starting point is one of the most famous song cycles of all time, An die ferne Geliebte. And the programme wouldn’t be complete without Beethoven’s adaptation of Scottish folk songs: a nocte temporis has demonstrated in the past, with its Dubhlinn Gardens project, that it can bring together popular and art music effortlessly.
