In 1998 the artist Ana Torfs made her only feature-length film to date, Zyklus von Kleinigkeiten, based on Ludwig van Beethoven’s conversation books. To mark the digitisation of this film by the Cinematek in Brussels, the Ictus Ensemble and Ana Torfs are preparing a concert-performance that will serve as a prelude to the film. The starting point is Ludwig van Beethoven’s very last composition, the puzzle canon Wir irren allesamt, nur jeder irret anders. We all make mistakes, but everyone’s mistakes are different. The result will be a cheerful celebration between friends in the spirit of the 19th century Schubertiades, including the film showing. The Ictus Ensemble will briefly change its name to The Puzzle Canon League of Musicians for the occasion.
