In 2026, Lunalia will be set ablaze by fiery sounds, and what better ensemble in residence to keep that flame alive than Accademia del Piacere? This groundbreaking Spanish company is considered a pioneer of historic music in Europe. Their innovative projects and the strong artistic personality of their director, Fahmi Alqhai, have shaped Accademia del Piacere into an ensemble that infuses old traditions with a contemporary spirit.
Their award-winning recordings reveal a new spectrum of sound colours. They turn the typical repertoire of the Italian Seicento, Spanish Renaissance and baroque theatre into something you have never heard before. Yet their focus is not entirely historical. They have also worked on occasions with the flamenco singer Arcángel, who was awarded the Giraldillo prize for best music at the Flamenco Biennale in Seville. This gives the past a contemporary voice.
At Lunalia, they will perform four concerts, starting with the opening concert Spain on Fire that will immediately set you aflame. L’Ange et le Diable asks whether all that passion is actually good for people. Get your breath back in A Piacere before the flames get out of hand again in Dialogos, the closing concert with flamenco dancer Ana Morales and flamenco singer Alba Carmona.
